CNN host Chris Cuomo’s unexpected absence Friday from the network’s weekday morning television program New Day, which he usually co-hosts with Alisyn Camerota, instantly raised many eyebrows.
According to a CNN spokesperson, Cuomo had already scheduled to take Friday off from work, as noted by the Washington Examiner.
His absence Friday morning came after a flurry of controversial comments he made Thursday on social media.

During a heated back-and-forth discussion on Twitter regarding President Donald Trump’s recent decision to rescind former President Barack Obama’s transgender bathroom rules, Cuomo wrote something that many found bizarre.
“What do you tell a 12-year-old girl who doesn’t want to see a penis in the locker room?” one Twitter user had asked him, referencing the rule’s requirement that transgender students be permitted to use the restroom and locker room of their choice.
This was just one of 90 messages Cuomo reportedly posted Thursday in opposition to the president’s decision.
